"You're not alone in the fight against depression."
In recognition of World Mental Health Day (Oct 10, 2019), we’re raising awareness of depression and suicide among men.
Every year, over 800,000 lives are lost to suicide. Globally, suicide is the second leading cause of death among people aged 15 to 29. Three times as many men die by suicide than women.*
Depression is one of the major risk factors for suicide. A lot of guys with depression experience thoughts of suicide at some point, but many of them don’t reach out – this needs to change. It is important to know that recovery from depression and suicidal thoughts is possible.
A special thanks to Julian and John, who joined Josh (our Project Coordinator) to share their experiences with depression. Despite facing dark times and hard struggles, they were able to reach out and get on a path to recovery – a message we want all guys who are battling depression to know.
